Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Doctors referral for Physiotherapy?

No. However some Health Insurance Policies require one so please check with your Insurer.

What can I expect on my first Physiotherapy appointment?

You will be thoroughly assessed and a diagnosis provided. At that time a treatment and rehabilitation plan individually tailored to suit your needs will be devised with realistic objectives and goals. For your first session it may be advisable to come 10-15 minutes earlier to fill out any neccessary paperwork so that your appointment time isn't affected.

What do I wear to my Physiotherapy sessions?

You should wear loose, comfortable clothing and be prepared to remove outer layers so that your physiotherapist can closely examine the injured area, in some cases they may wish to analyse your posture and alignment so may ask you to remove other outer clothes. In respect of this suitable underwear and a pair of shorts are required.

How does Clinical Pilates differ from Standard Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is different to standard Pilates in that the client is individually assessed by a physiotherapist and then given exercises that specifically target their problem areas. The physiotherapist closely supervises the client's technique, and grades the exercises according to the patients abilities so that injuries are prevented.
